Tunga was a Brazilian sculptor and performance artist from Pernambuco, said to be “one of Brazil’s best-known contemporary artists.” In 2005, he became the first such artist from Brazil in the museum’s history to exhibit his work at the Louvre. His creations were also featured at important art exhibits in Venice, Chicago, Havana and Kassel, among others.

In Brazil, there’s a 2,000 square meter pavillion exclusively dedicated to his art at the famous Instituto Inhotim, in Belo Horizonte. Online, his work can be seen here and a tribute video (he passed away earlier this year) can be seen below.
