Folha’s Recife tour

Folha posted an article (PT) on what to do in Recife. The basics are below.


1. Oficina Brennand

The artist Francisco Brennand transformed his father’s factory into an artist’s studio. It’s an open-air museum. In the city there’s also a Sculpture park, with Francisco’s works.

2. Boa Viagem Beach

A coral reef appears at low tide, forming various natural pools, with clear water and abundant fauna and flora.

3. Jaqueira Park

Recife’s biggest park, with a historic section, where the Nossa Senhora da Conceição das Barreiras chapel (from 1766) is located.

4. Neno and Lula Bar

The bar’s tables reach the sidewalk. Among the snacks, the bean stew with quail egg, vinnagrete, pork rind and cheese is the most requested dish.

5. Catamaran ride

Locations like the Governor’s Palace and the Sculpture park are seen via another angle from the Capibaribe river.

6. Museum of the Northeastern Man

Fifteen-thousand pieces, such as ceramics, form a picture of the people of the Northeast.

7. Franciscan Convent

Built between 1606 and 1613, it houses a chapel whose interior is covered in gold.

8. Giant Dolls

You can see Olinda’s dolls at any time of the year.
