Signs that tourists may be confused

largeBy way of Pernambuco Gypsy’s Twitter account, we have a bilingual sign from the streets of Recife which points people in the direction of two (ok, three) types of places. One, cheese, and the other, toilets. Because if anything, I’ve always asked myself these questions when arriving in a city.

Concierge: “We have tons of beaches, lots of cultural events, all kinds of restaurants…”

Tourist: “I don’t care…where’s the CHEESE??!!”

____

Some bilingual signs were installed in mid 2013 by Detran (like the DMV in the US) but the majority (500) have been in the process of being installed by the Recife gov’t starting from late last year and ending this March.
